The Wright’s Center, Inc. enables families to stay together in the community longer.

The Wright’s Center, Inc., an adult day health care facility for seniors and disabled adults, offers programs designed in accordance with national standards. We offer the most cost-effective way to provide care and help delay or avoid institutionalization for chronically ill, disabled, or cognitively challenged elders, while offering needed respite to caregivers.

Our multicultural, community-based services address the nutritional, educational, recreational, social, and health needs of all participants. Program activities are supervised and designed to benefit participants who because of physical impairments or other ailments should not be left alone during the day. The Wright’s Center, Inc. program is rewarding to adults who:
  • have memory loss (Alzheimer’s or related disorders);
  • are disabled and would flourish from a program of planned activities;
  • need professional health monitoring to maintain their well-being;
  • require assistance with personal care;
  • are happier when involved in group interaction and planned activities.
The Wright’s Center, Inc. is based on a model of intergenerational helping and community reinvestment. Since disability and loneliness have no racial lines, we serve all citizens through our innovative, certified programs.

Our philosophy is to provide a multi-faceted program in a nurturing bi-racial environment that will provide the best care possible and assist families in coping with and managing the care of elderly or disabled loved ones.

The Wright’s Center was established in September 1989 and is a project of VISIONS, Inc. (Vigorous InterventionS In Ongoing Natural Settings), a 501©3 nonprofit, educational organization that specializes in diversity and multiculturalism training and organizational and community development. VISIONS was founded by Rocky Mount natives Valeria Batts, PhD, Angela Bryant, JD, Ida Dew, MA Ed, and John Capitman, PhD.

The Wright’s Center was developed through rehabilitative and adaptive reuse of the landmark, art deco building that once housed Wright’s Chick Shack, the oldest Black-owned business in Rocky Mount.

The Wright’s Center, Inc. is certified by the North Carolina Division of Social Services and is a United Way funded agency. We are a member of NCADSA (NC Adult Day Services Association) and NC Center for Nonprofits.
